Seniors in the Rockhampton Region can enjoy a wide range of free and low-cost activities and events this month in recognition of Seniors Month.

Seniors Month celebrates the theme ‘Social Connections’ and encourages people of all ages, cultures and abilities to connect through events and activities, celebrating the role older people play in our communities.

Communities and Heritage Councillor Drew Wickerson said there's a range of wonderful activities and events available this month for everyone to get involved in, no matter what age.

“From expos to tours, exhibitions, a BBQ, trivia and much more, there's so much planned for our seniors, their carers, family and friends to participate in,” Cr Wickerson said.

“Seniors Month is an opportunity for people of all ages to come together and celebrate the valuable contributions our seniors have made to our lives and our community.

“The continued theme of ‘Social Connections’ remains incredibly relevant as these connections are essential at any age.

"Seniors month is about highlighting the importance of feeling connected and the importance of coming together to celebrate our wonderful seniors.”

“I encourage the community to join in on the celebrations and promote positive community attitudes towards older people and ageing, facilitate community participation, and enhance community connections.”
