Pay now, or pay more later

Rockhampton Regional Council Local Law Officers are currently out in force checking properties across the Region for dog registration compliance.

The selective inspection program specifically targets pet owners who have not renewed their 2013-14 dog registration by the due date of 31 August 2014 and any other unregistered dog at the address.

On the spot fines of $227 for unregistered dogs will be issued with owners given two weeks to complete their pet registration. Further fines will apply if the dog is not registered within the two weeks.

Council is urging pet owners to pay their registration now to avoid the fine.

If a resident has sold or given away their dog or experienced the sad loss of their pet please notify Council by completing a dog registration amendment form.

Registration, with up-to-date information, is important as Council officers can easily reunite a lost dog with its owner, ensuring wandering animals are kept off the street and the community remains safe.

Inspections will take place daily between 7am – 6pm until 3 May 2015.

This program forms part of an ongoing campaign to ensure dog owners register their pets with Council.
