Planning for future development is now at your fingertips

Embarking on a development in the Rockhampton Region used to mean contacting a Council administration office, trawling paperwork and one of the Region’s three planning schemes.
… Or at least that was until this week.
Planning for a development in the Rockhampton Region has just become a whole lot easier - thanks to a new, single planning scheme for the Region and its exciting online planning portal.
Today Rockhampton Regional Council launched “Rock e Plan”, a new and much improved way for developers and local residents to plan toward a future development in the Rockhampton Region.
Mayor of Rockhampton Region, Margaret Strelow said it means exciting times for Council, developers and future development.
“Rock e Plan is simple, it’s interactive and it takes a lot of the frustration and red tape out of the process that was initially around early development planning,” Mayor Strelow said.
“Up until this week, members of the public who were looking into a development of some kind would have to contact Council to find specific information on a property in relation to its relevant planning scheme – whether that was the former Rockhampton City, Fitzroy or Mount Morgan Shire Planning Schemes.
“By having a single planning scheme and providing it in this interactive and searchable way, developers can now access all of that initial information from their own home or workplace and all in a very short timeframe.”
Mayor Strelow noted that while Rock e Plan is now online, Council officers are still available to assist with development planning.
“Of course, our officers are still here to help and are available to answer any questions you may have regarding the new Planning Scheme and development plans or proposals,” Mayor Strelow said.
What “Rock e Plan” includes:
View the Planning Scheme
Wanting to know the specifics of the Planning Scheme or how your future development plan fits in?
You can view the entire Rockhampton Region Planning Scheme from the online portal, with user friendly navigational links throughout. Links are also provided for external websites including legislation and Australian Standards.
Planning Scheme Mapping
Rock e Plan also contains interactive mapping information related to the new Planning Scheme including zones, overlays, priority infrastructure areas and basic property information. You can undertake property searches to determine the zone of a property and whether the property is subject to flooding, bushfire and other constraints etc.
Search planning rules for a property
The search function also allows users to determine whether they require planning approval or not for a development. Simply enter in an address into the portal’s search bar, select the type of development you wish to undertake and the search function will outline whether a planning application is required and if so, what the requirements would be.
