Have your say on Council’s proposed Corporate Plan
Published on 24 October 2016
Rockhampton Regional Council’s proposed Corporate Plan has been released for community consultation and you can have your say in creating a Region that is admired for its strength, resilience and strategic direction.
The Corporate Plan sets the strategic direction and key priorities for the organisation over the course of the next five years. It sets out to identify expectations that the community desires within the Region and outlines outcomes that Council will strive towards to ensure these expectations are met.
Rockhampton Region Mayor Margaret Strelow said the Corporate Plan is an aspirational document that focuses on five key themes; that collectively will connect the community, create opportunities and ensure the Region is sustainable now and into the future.
“Community, Economy, Environment, Service Excellence and Local Government Leader are the five key themes which we have identified as the underwriting pillars of our Corporate Plan,” Mayor Strelow said.
“Over the coming years, the Rockhampton Region is set to continue to grow and evolve and will inevitably face significant changes be they an expanding and more diverse population, increases in economic activity, new infrastructure challenges or simply a change in the community’s expectations.
“Any one of these circumstances could significantly impact on the lifestyle of the Region’s residents. Rockhampton Regional Council wants to ensure our organisation, and the community, is proactive in planning for the future.”
Rockhampton Regional Council Chief Executive Officer Evan Pardon said like all local governments in Queensland, Council is required to adopt a Corporate Plan every five years and carry out the range of responsibilities that is consistent with this.
“The Corporate Plan will be directly linked to Council’s long term strategic documents, including our Annual Budget and Operational Plan,” Mr Pardon said.
“The Corporate Plan outlines the community’s expectations and formulates Council’s stipulated outcomes while the Operational Plan focuses on the specific activities and actions that are required to achieve these outcomes.”
The community is invited to provide feedback on the proposed Corporate Plan with the public consultation period commencing Monday, 24 October and continuing through to Friday, 2 December 2016.
Members of the public may lodge a formal submission online, via email at Corporateplan@rrc.qld.gov.au, via post, or in person at Council’s Customer Service offices.
