Due to lightning storms predicted in Rockhampton early this evening, Council has unfortunately decided to cancel the Quay Street Party.
Rockhampton Region Mayor Margaret Strelow said, “We are bitterly disappointed, but Quay Street is there permanently for everyone to enjoy.”
“Once the storm has passed we encourage everyone to go have a look at the tremendous work that has been done to date.”
The opportunity for the community to meet Olympians Anna Meares, who will be presented with Keys to the City, and Sasha Belonogoff will still go ahead with the presentations now being held in the Walter Reid Auditorium at 5.30pm.
There will also be a formal opening of Stage 1A with local businesses and key stakeholders of the Riverbank Revitalisation project.
