As of Monday Rockhampton will officially be linked to both Townsville and the Gold Coast with direct flights thanks to our newest passenger airline JETGO!

To celebrate the first leg of the journey Rockhampton Regional Council’s Chairman of Business Enterprise Councillor Neil Fisher will be among JETGO’s first passenger load from Townsville to Rockhampton when it touches down at 8.30am.

Cr Fisher attributes the success of Rockhampton Airport’s partnership with JETGO to the strong business links between Townsville and the persistence to secure a long desired leisure link to the Gold Coast.

“The Townsville flights have been long requested and the Gold Coast flights have been a dream for a very long time, so it’s amazing that we have been able to secure this dream,” Cr Fisher said.

“The work behind the scenes has been quite substantial with negotiations on the details and I give full credit to Council’s finance and airport Managers.”

JETGO CEO Jason Ryder says with the partnership proving to be so strong already, there may be room to expand its scheduled operations in the future.

“We have been encouraged by the fantastic response so far, which has seen positive load factors. If this trend continues, JETGO will certainly look at adding additional flights from Rockhampton,” he said.

“We are also extremely pleased to have been granted CASA approval for all three of our new destinations on the 22nd September 2015.”

JETGO will conduct three return flights per week on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays, departing Townsville and Rockhampton in the morning and departing from the Gold Coast and Rockhampton in the afternoon.
