With the arrival of the September school holidays less than a week away, there are plenty of fun activities planned across the Rockhampton Region for kids of all ages to enjoy.

Council has a variety of school holiday activities on offer at many of its facilities across the Region with Deputy Mayor Drew Wickerson encouraging families to stay local these September school holidays.

“There is no shortage of fun activities on offer for families staying local over the next two weeks,” Cr Wickerson said.

“Families can immerse themselves in the history and good old-fashioned fun at the Rockhampton Heritage Village with vintage car and train rides, animal feeding, double decker bus rides and more.

“Kids will be kept busy with numerous art workshops on offer at the Walter Reid Cultural Centre from jewellery and teddy bear making to other craft sessions, all run by local community groups.

“For the aspiring artists, the Rockhampton Museum of Art is offering workshops for the kids, where they can be immersed in art, discover their creative side, and learn valuable skills.”

Another great way to spend the holidays is at one of the Rockhampton Regional Libraries with all four locations offering plenty of activities.

“There is no shortage of fun on offer at our libraries, with different events scheduled for each day in addition to the games and other fun activities on offer all day,” Cr Wickerson said.

“If you have an animal-loving child, the Rockhampton Zoo is always a hit and with free entry, it’s a cost-effective form of fun!

“Whether it is the library, Walter Reid Cultural Centre, Rockhampton Museum of Art, Heritage Village or the Zoo, these activities are fun and educational, offering many opportunities for kids to learn new skills, explore their interests, and ignite their curiosity.

“The school holiday programs bring children and families together, providing opportunities to meet new friends.

“Take advantage of the offerings and make the most of our vibrant, welcoming, and enriching region.”
