Registrations now open for 2018 Emergency Services Day
Published on 03 May 2018
The popular Emergency Services Day is on again this July, and event coordinators are inviting external organisations to register a display for this year’s event.
Attracting thousands of people each year, the open day hosts a range of demonstrations and activities and works to equip residents with knowledge of how to be prepared for any emergency or disaster.
Chair of the Local Disaster Management Group, Councillor Tony Williams said this year’s event is set to be another success, and encourages as many organisations as possible to take part.
“The Emergency Services Day showcases the great work that our Emergency Services and disaster management partners do, with hands-on and interactive displays for all ages,” Cr Williams said.
“It’s a fantastic event and isn’t just a great day out for the family, but also presents vital information on what actions to take before, during and after an emergency event and why it’s important for everyone to take ownership of their own safety.
“Event coordinators are encouraging organisations in the Region that have a connection to emergency services or have a service or product that assists the community to be more resilient to be a part of the day.
“It’s free to exhibit and is a great way to promote your service and your presence in the community to more than 7,000 people on the day,” Cr Williams said.
This year’s event will be held at the Rockhampton Heritage Village from 9am until 2pm on Sunday 29 July.
Please register for the Emergency Services day if your organisation provides:
- A service or product that assists our community to be more resilient or safer
- Is part of the prevention, preparation, response or recovery phases of disaster/emergency management
- Provides preventative information/services to reduce the effects of disease or conditions
- Has a connection to emergency services and/or to vulnerable or diverse groups in the community
