Riverbank Revitalisation Stage 2 Works Begin
Published on 24 January 2017
The Woollam Construction team has today commenced works on the low bank as part of Stage 2 of the Riverbank Revitalisation project.
To facilitate the Stage 2 works, a portion of the lower bank car park and pedestrian boardwalk between Denham and William Streets is now closed for redevelopment.
As advised in December, 60 additional all day parks have been made available on the riverbank side of Quay Street, between William and Derby Streets, as signed. Three hour parking is still available on the building side of Quay Street in this area.
Pedestrians and cyclists using the riverbank boardwalk will be detoured around construction to the upper bank along Quay Street.
Stage 2 of the Riverbank Revitalisation project will transform the lower banks of the Fitzroy River into a recreational space for locals and visitors, with a new pier structure, revitalised gardens, shaded seating areas and a pop jet plaza.
This work is due to be completed by the end of 2017, subject to weather conditions.
