From worldwide Warner Bros. Studio stores, to the Wembley Stadium District in London and the MGM City Centre in Las Vegas, U.S. company, Illuminating Concepts, has lit up some of the most iconic landmarks around the globe and the Rockhampton Riverfront is set to be next.
Coming to Australia for the first time, Illuminating Concepts will work alongside local company Stankey Electrics, who was recently awarded a $2.1million contract for the Riverbank Electrical Service and Smart Technology tender.
Rockhampton Region Mayor Margaret Strelow said the state-of-the art technology and feature lighting of Quay Street is the pinnacle of the project that will bring the riverfront into the 21st century.
“We’re pleased to announce another local business will benefit from the riverfront redevelopment project and at the same time be given the opportunity to work with an internationally renowned company,” Mayor Strelow said.
“The feature lighting will refine the beautiful architecture of our buildings while the smart technology will create a safer environment for the community - It’s going to be the icing on the cake for the entire redevelopment.”
Ron Harwood, CEO of Illuminating Concepts said the US Company is pleased that Rockhampton will be the first city in Australia to deploy the Intellistreets technology.
“While urban centres and high streets have been the focus of U.S. deployments, we have developed the system to be a vital component for coastal regions, parks and waterways,” Mr Harwood said.
“These features will not only be for entertainment and information purposes, but also for the times when environmental and security aspects of our core technology enable mass notification and wayfinding.
“We look forward to working with the great officials of Rockhampton and the highly skilled contractors working on the project.”
Stankey Electrics Project Manager, Luke Stanke, said the company is excited to see Council embrace innovation and cutting-edge technology that will sustain local jobs.
“I would like to extend our appreciation to the Rockhampton Regional Council for their selection - projects like this are just what our company needs to continue providing, sustainable local employment to locals,” Mr Stanke said.
