Rockhampton secures Adani FIFO Hub

Rockhampton has secured the prize position as one of two FIFO bases for Adani.
Rockhampton Region Mayor Margaret Strelow said the company has announced FIFO operations from both Townsville and Rockhampton.
“While we don't yet know exactly how many jobs this will deliver for our community, we are delighted and deeply grateful to all levels of Government who have worked together to see this project deliver this much needed economic boost.” Mayor Strelow said.
“Three years ago this would not have been possible, Rockhampton was not on the radar.
“I pay tribute to our hard-working Councillors who put Rockhampton on the mining stage again. Hours spent manning displays and promoting our capacity have paid off.
“I especially pay tribute to our high calibre Economic Development team for the quality of our bid submission and the relationships they have built.”
Mayor Strelow added that this result, after a highly competitive process between Townsville Mackay and Rockhampton, is a great achievement.
“We should not underestimate how much focus and effort has been directed to achieve this goal,” She said.
“I would also like to acknowledge the role played by Empower Economics who took the final bid and polished it and helped us to deliver the most professional bid for a major project that I believe Rockhampton has ever put forward.”
Rockhampton Region Mayor Margaret Strelow was quick to congratulate Townsville to host Adani’s Regional Headquarters and looks forward to working with Townsville to source and house workers for the Carmichael Mine.
