The Music and Drama Company Singapore has delighted audiences with its production The Singapura Express at the Pilbeam Theatre on 11 and 12 November.

Close to 2500 people experienced the dazzling multicultural items and popular tunes that made up the show.

Deputy Mayor Cr Drew Wickerson said that the concerts had been a wonderful opportunity for residents and visitors to experience Singaporean culture.

“I am very pleased that the community turned out in such good numbers to see the shows.

“Council presented the performances in cooperation with the Music and Drama Company Singapore to further cement the bonds of friendship that we have with each other,” he said.

The Music and Drama company’s visit to Rockhampton was the first since 2015.

Established in 1973 to boost morale of the Singapore Armed Forces soldiers through live entertainment, many of its members are made up of personnel who are currently serving or are past national service personnel.

Today, MDC is a multi-disciplinary entertainment body based in Singapore and is made up of 62 people including more than 40 performers, with 24 members currently national service personnel.
