Rockhampton Mayor Margaret Strelow has welcomed amendments to the Native Title Act passed through the senate today which clears the way for Adani’s Carmichael Mine to proceed.

“We know this project has the power to turbocharge our local economy and provide a much needed stimulus in the construction sector as well as ongoing jobs into the future,” Mayor Strelow said.

“Today’s decision by the Senate is the latest in a string of positive announcements over the past few weeks and we look forward to the announcement soon about the location of the FIFO Hub.

“Council remains in constant contact with Adani and we have already begun working with our businesses to deliver real skills for real jobs from this project,” Mayor Strelow said.
