Seniors Week celebrations underway

Published on 22 August 2017

A number of events and programs are underway in the Rockhampton Region this week as the community comes together to celebrate Seniors Week 2017.

Chair of Council’s Community Services Committee Councillor Rose Swadling is encouraging all to join in celebrating the priceless contribution seniors make to our local communities.

“Seniors Week annually offers an added opportunity to celebrate our senior residents and their invaluable place in our communities – whether that be as volunteers, group advocates, grandparents and much, much more,” Cr Swadling said.

“Our Region is incredibly lucky to have a large number of dedicated, inspiring and community minded senior residents and I really encourage as many people as possible to join in the Senior Week activities on offer.

“The events range from comedy capers to old-fashioned sing-alongs to multicultural morning teas and they not only give our senior residents an opportunity to get out and about but to also connect with a wide range of ages.”
