Share your Quay ideas on the Riverfront Redevelopment

Rockhampton Regional Council is encouraging the community to have their say on the preliminary riverbank designs.
Mayor Margaret Strelow says Council has received very positive feedback from residents who have contributed their own ideas and embraced the initial design via the online survey.
“The State Government grant was a stimulus package and is to be spent on this one project in particular,” Mayor Strelow said.
“Research has shown that communities recover faster after a natural disaster if there is a major new project to focus on.
“Many people are feeling unsure about their jobs, particularly as the Yeppen project draws to a close, and the State Government’s intention was that this project would help to boost the economy.
“We understand money still needs to be spent on other infrastructure projects such as roads and stormwater.
“This investment in our iconic Quay Street and riverbank, is a unique opportunity to support our economy, via the once off grant, and in turn see a long held dream get off the ground,” she said.
As of Saturday, Council will conduct shopping centre tours to capture more opinions and give the community a chance to ask questions on the proposed redevelopment designs.
Mayor Strelow is encouraging everyone to share their feedback on the proposal for stage one which is the resurfacing of Quay Street from Fitzroy to William Street, and also Denham Street.
