Prominent Australian cattle baron Sir Graham McCamley today presented four copies of his memoir Roads in the Sky to Rockhampton’s Regional Libraries.
Chair of Council’s Community Services Committee, Councillor Rose Swadling, said that the book provides insight into an incredible life.
“There are very few people in Central Queensland who don’t know the name ‘Sir Graham McCamley’,” said Cr Swadling
“As one of Australia’s most prominent cattle barons, I dare say he is a man who needs no introduction.
“In this book, Sir Graham reflects on his family history, his life growing up in Central Queensland, and the pioneering spirit that drove his career.
“The title of the book, Roads in the Sky, refers to his early realisation that flying could help him overcome the tyranny of distance, and allow him to oversee his collection of properties.
“If you would like a copy of the book for yourself, it is available at the G. E. McCamley Group office for a donation to the Lady McCamley Memorial Foundation, which was set up by Sir Graham to honour the legacy of his late wife, Shirley.
“And, of course, a copy of the book will be available at each of Rockhampton’s Regional Libraries to borrow from today.”
Roads in the Sky is available at the G.E. McCamley Group office at 87 Bolsover St, Rockhampton.
