Sk8ter, Sk8ter come on board at Cedric Archer Skate Park
Published on 18 July 2016
Hey Sk8ters, grab your boards and try out the cool new Cedric Archer Park Skate Park at the official opening on Saturday 23 July.
With quarter pipes, hips, flat banks, kickers, hubs, rails and mini ramps, there’s bound to be a trick for everyone!
Rockhampton Regional Council’s Parks, Recreation and Sport Committee Chair Councillor Cherie Rutherford said the excitement was building with less than a week to go.
“Finally, Gracemere’s young people will have their own contemporary space, something they can take hold of as their own,” Cr Rutherford said.
“On Saturday, we’ll be officially opening the skate park and we’re encouraging as many people and families to come along, give it a go or just watch our skateboarders in their element.”
Council worked closely with consultants CONVIC and the local Gracemere community with feedback centred on a street plaza zone with obstacles mimicking features found around the city.
Mayor Strelow and Councillors will officially open the $325,000 skate park at Cedric Archer Park at 10am. A sausage sizzle is also planned.
