Sparking industry connections in Rockhampton’s energy sector

Collaborative conversations have been sparked at Advance Rockhampton’s Energy Forum Lunch which recognised the important role energy production and partnerships play in the Rockhampton Region economy.

Hosted by Rockhampton Regional Council’s lead economic development agency, 250 attendees were able to meet face-to-face with around a dozen large scale corporations working across the energy sector – from generation and transmission, to planning and development, and mining.

Advance Rockhampton analysis shows $7.46 billion will be spent on energy projects in the Rockhampton Region by 2030, prompting the creation of 1,350 jobs. The delivery of new projects in the region is expected to continue until 2058.

Rockhampton Region Mayor Tony Williams said Council is working to deliver the best outcomes for the local economy, businesses and residents.

“Advance Rockhampton’s Energy Forum Lunch was another invaluable opportunity to break down barriers and connect the community with key-decision makers, develop their understanding of the energy sector and its requirements for talent and industry connections,” Mayor Williams said.

“The Rockhampton Region’s $12 billion project pipeline demonstrates the trust and confidence businesses have in our ability to deliver and support major projects across the region.

“Rockhampton’s electrical and transport infrastructure, consultancy and planning businesses, plant hire services and skilled workers support an array of major projects across the Central Queensland area.

“All Roads Lead to Rocky – and there’s never been a better time to invest in the Rockhampton Region.”

Advance Rockhampton’s Economic Development Manager, Wade Clark, has encouraged businesses to build on connections established during today’s forum.

“Advance Rockhampton is proud to have delivered or partnered in the delivery of around 25 industry engagements this year, and we’ve watched those develop into investment leads, new partnerships and greater reputational awareness for the Rockhampton Region,” Mr Clark said.
