Spring into the Region’s pools and water play areas

Rockhampton Regional Council is encouraging the community to dive into the Region’s pools and water play areas, taking full advantage of the Region’s warmer weather.
Parks, Sport and Public Spaces Councillor Cherie Rutherford said the Region is the perfect destination for the September school holidays, brimming with fun activities for all ages.
“Following the opening our new Mount Morgan pool earlier this year, the operating hours have been extended,” Cr Rutherford said.
“As the weather warms into our beautiful Spring climate, you can enjoy use of the Mount Morgan pool between Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm and 9am to 5pm on the weekends.
“We have some fantastic water play areas which are free to interact with and are also a lot of fun for kids, no matter their age and swimming ability.
“The water play areas at Kershaw Gardens, Cedric Archer Park and Riverside Park are great options with playgrounds nearby along with shaded seating so families can enjoy a day out together.”
With the increasingly warmer weather, Cr Rutherford reminded all water play and pool users that frequent application of sunscreen and adherence to pool safety rules are important.
“Remember if you are out in the sun, to frequently slip, slop and slap on the sunscreen, while drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated,” Cr Rutherford said.
“Also, with any fun around water, as adults, please ensure that we keep an eye on our children playing and remain close at hand to offer supervision and assistance.”
