After a COVID-enforced break of several months, you can See It Live again at the Pilbeam Theatre from September.

To get the ball rolling, the theatre is producing a series of variety concerts on Sunday afternoons, starting on Sunday 6 September at 4pm.

The Sunday Sessions concerts will include rock and classical music, circus theatre, stand up comedy and more.  Artists across the three sessions will include  comedians Mick Neven, Jodie van de Wetering and Tom Sayers, Rocky Improv Group, Epic Studios Australia, Rockhampton Symphony Orchestra Trio, local rock bands and lead performers from Rockhampton  school musical productions.

The concerts will be performed live on stage, with a reduced auditorium capacity, in line with the venue’s COVID Safe Plan.

Rockhampton Regional Council Community Services spokesperson Cr Drew Wickerson said that the concerts served several purposes.

“The Pilbeam Theatre has been closed to the public since mid March, due to COVID 19 regulations. However, venue staff have been planning the return of live theatre since the Live Performance Venues/Theatres COVID Safe Plan was approved by Queensland Health in July.

“These Sunday Sessions will be a great transition event as we head towards bigger shows on the horizon. The concerts will help the venue work through some of the temporary changes it has put in place.

“At the same time, Sunday Sessions is a great opportunity for local entertainers who might otherwise not have had the chance to perform on the Pilbeam Theatre stage.

“I encourage people to come and see the shows and support local performers,” he said.

The Pilbeam Theatre Box Office will be open from Monday 31 August for in-person ticket sales.

Some of the temporary changes that have been put into place are:

  • Auditorium capacity will be reduced to enable social distancing. This will mean a reduced number of tickets will be available for sale, so early booking is advised.
  • All shows will be booked as general admission seats. The box office will allocate final seats to ensure social distancing and email you with this information a few days prior to the event.
  • Book together, be seated together. As a family/social group people can sit together which means a bigger crowd for the artists and a better experience for patrons.
  • The bar is open, but to comply with regulations, patrons will need to take their purchases into the auditorium and enjoy from the comfort of their seats. The doors to the auditorium will be open earlier to give patrons more time as well.
  • Preferred ticket delivery method will be print at home via email. Patrons can print their ticket and bring it with them or, open the ticket on your phone to show the ushers on the door. If you are unable to do either of these, our Box Office will be able to help you out if needed.
  • Patrons will be asked to provide contact details of all attendees in their party. If this changes on the night, just let our box office team know.
  • Toilet designations and queues are changing. Ladies are now down both side corridors; Gents are opposite the candy bar. This allows for better social distancing.
  • Please call the Box Office on 49274111 if you have Wheelchair, Companion Card or special seating requirements before completing your booking.
  • Anyone exhibiting symptoms of COVID19 will be asked to leave the venue.

Sunday Sessions will be held on Sunday 6 September, Sunday 20 September and Sunday 18 October. Different performers at each concert. Tickets, at $15 each, are on sale from the Pilbeam Theatre Box Office, phone 4927 4111 or visit the website, www.seeitlive.com.au.
