Top performing facilities – the Art Gallery, Libraries and Pools

Rockhampton Regional Council has been given the tick of approval from the community with the results of the Satisfaction and Importance Survey report released today.

The Rockhampton Art Gallery, Council libraries and local pools are residents’ top performing facilities according to the survey which was carried out during October and November 2016 and asked participants their thoughts on our current services, infrastructure and facilities, and whether Council met their expectations.

Rockhampton Regional Council CEO Evan Pardon said the findings highlighted a number of key areas where the community was highly satisfied with council’s service delivery.

“Every two years we go out to the community to gauge their thoughts on our current services and infrastructure including our roads, footpaths and waste for example, and for feedback on how our facilities are performing from their perspective,” Mr Pardon said.

“Our top performers were Libraries, the Art Gallery and our pools while we’ve also seen positive responses in waste and recycling and we’re continuing to satisfy expectations in areas such as water supply and disaster management, which of course is quite timely given our recent flood.

“The survey also highlighted areas that the community sees as a priority, such as community safety, which Council is already progressing with improved lighting, security cameras and duress alarms for the Riverfront development.”

Mr Pardon said the findings were valuable in terms of future planning and ensuring Council was across what’s important to the community.

“It’s essential that we talk to the community and understand their needs so we can focus, plan and invest in areas that may need more attention or improvements,” he said.

“In the past, we’ve taken the community’s feedback for things such as better roads or more stormwater infrastructure and applied for funding from both the state and federal governments, which has been quite successful.

“We’ll be looking closely at the recent results and what they mean for the upcoming budget as well our work units for the next 12 – 18 months.”

The survey asked the following questions with 891 surveys received:

  • Thinking of your community - What are the three highest priorities to improve your community?
  • Rate Council’s services, infrastructure and facilities - Have we met your expectations?
  • Rate the importance of Council’s services, infrastructure and facilities - How important is it to you?
