In only three weeks’ time CapriCon Pop Culture Convention will transform the Rockhampton Showgrounds into the largest single-day pop culture convention in regional Queensland proudly presented by McDonalds Central Queensland.
This years line-up is the biggest yet with combat archery craze - Dodgebow, the voice of Scooby Doo - Neil Fanning, Wolf Creek’s John Jarratt, comedian and host of ABC’s TV Show ‘Gamer’, Harry Jun, plus a medieval village, Lightsaber Academy and all things, comics, anime, gaming and more!
Rockhampton Region Mayor Tony Williams is excited to see how much CapriCon has grown over the past 6 years and the strong show of community support.
“The Central Queensland community is extremely lucky to be able to experience such a high calibre pop culture convention without having to travel to a capital city – the quality of the guests and vendors this year are out of this world,” Mayor Williams said.
“CapriCon attendees can expect to be wowed by the full line-up of guests from movie stars to comic artists on more than 20 panels, 120+ vendors, combat archery Dodgebow, pro-wrestling shows, Lightsaber Academy, kids Harry Potter workshops, cosplay competitions and a gaming precinct.”
“Whether you’re attending to learn manga drawing or to battle it out on the Dodgebow field, CapriCon certainly has something for all ages and all interests.”
Acting Advance Rockhampton Executive Manager Zac Garven is proud to see Advance Rockhampton deliver the largest single-day pop culture convention in regional Queensland for the 6th year.
“CapriCon plays a pivotal role in our region’s visitor economy with 23% of attendees from outside the region bringing in over $340,000 in overnight visitor expenditure,” Mr Garven said.

Neil Fanning | Voice Actor
Voice Artist, stuntman and actor, Neil Fanning’s entertainment career has spanned over 35 years. With more than 50 movie, television and commercial credits to his name, Neil’s versatility and experience continue to be highly sort after. Most notably Neil performed the voice of Scooby Doo in both international blockbusters, Scooby Doo and Scooby Doo 2 Monsters Unleashed. Among his other film credits are Elvis, Nim’s Island, Daybreakers, Peter Pan, Crocodile Hunter - Collision Course and Jacki Chan’s First Strike.
John Jarrett | Actor
Best known for his role as Mick Taylor in the terrifying Wolf Creek franchise.
Harry Jun | Gamer, Comedian
Harry Jun is a Sydney based comedian, host and cartoonist. He is the host of the show The Loot Drop, a weekly gaming news show with hot takes, sketches and silly jokes.
I-Artemis-I | Cosplayer
I-Artemis-I is a multi-award-winning cosplayer, who has represented Australia twice in the World Cosplay Summit in Japan - most recently in 2022 where she and her partner came 2nd in the world. She is best known for her leather armour, props, facial hair and love of avatar cosplays with friends.
Dean Rankine | Comic Artist
Dean Rankine is a Ledger and Stanley Award winning comic book artist, illustrator and writer best known for his work on Simpsons Comics and The Riverdale Diaries : Starring Veronica graphic novel.
Mark Raats | Comic Artist
A true powerhouse of the film and TV industry. Mark Raats is an illustrator that works primarily for Disney and Lucasfilm. His most recent work includes the official poster art for Disney and Lucasfilm’s SOLO - A Star Wars Story, The Rise of Skywalker and season 2 of The Mandalorian.
Warren Duxbury | Prop Artist
Born in Sydney: Australia, Warren Duxbury spent a good part of his childhood dabbling in the art of Puppetry. He perfected his Puppeteering skills, working closely with Henson Muppeteers in London. Warren was commissioned by the Australian Television Network to re-build that lovable "bath-mat with attitude" - Channel 7's Agro. A living legend and an Australian Icon - Agro has been entertaining kids and adults alike for well over two decades.
