Rockhampton Regional Council will be completing upgrades to the Skate Park at Stapleton Park, Bridge Street, North Rockhampton.

Stapleton Park Skate Park is the main skate park in North Rockhampton and is utilised by many young people within the Region.

The Skate Park upgrade project is designed to re-invigorate this well used recreation area. This upgrade is the first part of an overarching plan for improving our engagement with young people in our Region.

The upgrade project will cost approximately $70,000 and will commence in February 2015.

Council anticipates that the upgrade project will be completed by mid-March 2015 (weather permitting).

Work that is being undertaken includes repairs and maintenance to existing infrastructure such as:

  • Repair works on expansion joints and cracks
  • Removal of asphalt edging
  • Installation of new seating
  • Application of anti-graffiti coating
  • Installation of new drinking fountain
  • Repairs to water supply and drainage
  • Relocation of irrigation and new turf

Access to some, or all of the skate park could be restricted at various stages of the project.

This project will enhance both the user experience and sustainability of the skate park into the future.
