Upgrades to majorly improve Rockhampton roundabout

Major improvements are set for the Feez Street roundabout in North Rockhampton, thanks to a project of Rockhampton Regional Council.

The roundabout is currently undergoing an upgrade, totalling $100,000.

Chair of Council’s Infrastructure Committee, Councillor Tony Williams said the works will provide benefits for both motorists and cyclists.

“When completed, this project will mean some very positive changes for those who use this roundabout,” Cr Williams said.

“It’s part of Council’s continued commitment to improving road networks and keeping our Region moving.”

Works include the widening of exit lanes onto Moore’s Creek Road, as well as an upgrade for part of Kerrigan Street and the roundabout entry.

Additional pavement marking will also occur.

For cyclists, the good news includes an additional concrete path link.

“The footpath from Bruigom Street to the roundabout is a shared path for pedestrians and cyclists and at present there is no link from the crossing at Kerrigan Street to the dedicated bike lane on Moores Creek Road,” Cr Williams said.

“This will be added as part of this project.”

Construction has commenced and is expected to be completed mid-August, 2015.
