Final call for bulk waste collection
Residents in the flood affected areas yet to dispose of items as part of the flood recovery bulk waste collection service are being encouraged to contact Rockhampton Regional Council as soon as possible.
Council has undertaken at least one sweep through all affected areas and is now requesting persons whose premises were affected by the flood and who have flood damaged goods for disposal to notify Council that they will require a service.
Flood affected areas of Rockhampton eligible for the bulk waste collection service include the following localities: Alton Downs, Allenstown, Berserker, Depot Hill, Fairy Bower, Gracemere, Kawana, Koongal, Lakes Creek, Park Avenue, Pink Lily, Port Curtis, Rockhampton City, The Common, Wandal and West Rockhampton.
Residents within these flood affected areas who are still requiring this service should contact Council’s Customer Service Centre on 1300 22 55 77.
The collection service will cease at 5pm April 28, 2017. No waste will be collected after this date.
Items eligible for collection are flood damaged household items, including building materials (smaller than 1.8m in length), damaged furniture, white goods, and mattresses.
Residents are asked to safely place items at the front of properties on the kerb, and to ensure that their collections do NOT include any of the following:
- Green waste;
- Car bodies or boats, tyres or engines;
- Food wastes;
- Soil, gravel or rubble;
- Deceased animals;
- Fireworks, ammunition or explosives;
- Building materials greater than 1.8 metres in length;
- Chemicals, paints, oils or gas cylinders;
- Medical wastes; and
- Asbestos containing materials.

Waste and Recycling Collection Services
All Waste and Recycling Collection Services are operating as per normal.
Where a service was missed last week due to flood and a request has been made, a re-service of these premises is being undertaken with a waste collection vehicle. This vehicle is collecting both waste and recycling bins at present. A Waste Collection vehicle is also travelling through the un-serviced areas of last week when possible and collecting any sighted bins. This will cease Thursday 12/04/2017 at 2pm.

Bulk Waste Collection Service
The bulk waste collection service commenced, Wednesday 12/04/2017. The service will work through the flood impacted areas of the following Suburbs / localities: Alton Downs, Allenstown, Berserker, Depot Hill, Fairy Bower, Gracemere, Kawana, Koongal, Lakes Creek, Park Avenue, Pink Lily, Port Curtis, Rockhampton City, The Common, Wandal and West Rockhampton. Residents are asked to safely place items from collection on their footpath. The service will not be working Easter Sunday.
The following wastes will be collected: flood damaged household items, including building materials (smaller than 1.8m in length), damaged furniture, white goods, and mattresses.
