We’ve built a bridge – now it needs a name!
Published on 28 November 2019
Rockhampton Regional Council is asking for your help to name the newly built 43-metre pedestrian bridge at Gracemere’s revitalised Touch of Paradise Lagoon!
Parks Committee Chair Councillor Cherie Rutherford said she is excited to hear the community’s ideas.
“If you’ve been to Touch of Paradise Lagoon in Cedric Archer Park recently you’ll have noticed that it has undergone a complete transformation,” said Cr Rutherford.
“The reshaped lagoon, new pathways, and impressive bridge mean that Touch of Paradise Lagoon is well on the way to truly living up to its name.
“While there is still some landscaping work and seating to follow before the area is complete, the revitalised lagoon is already attracting some fantastic feedback.
“We really want Touch of Paradise Lagoon to be a treasured place for Gracemere residents and families, and we want to select a name for the new bridge that is meaningful to the community.”
Divisional Councillor Ellen Smith encouraged people to jump onto Council’s community engagement website and have their say.
“If you have a suggestion for a name that you think will resonate for this new bridge then we want to hear it,” Cr Smith said.
“Residents have until Monday, 23 December to submit their idea along with an explanation of why it suits.
“Following the survey period there’ll be a shortlisting process to select the most fitting name.
“We’re looking forward to seeing some great suggestions!”
