Wyatt’s Wonder Web remains closed for repairs
Published on 06 February 2025
Rockhampton Regional Council advises that Wyatt’s Wonder Web at Kershaw Gardens will remain closed for repairs, with work expected to take five months.
The structure suffered significant damage in December 2024 due to a fire suspected to have been started by vandals.
The fire, which originated on the top level, caused debris and melted material to fall through, damaging the play structure and soft fall underneath.
While Council hopes to salvage some of the equipment, individual assessments are currently being arranged to determine the full extent of the damage.
As Wyatt’s Web is a custom-built and unique structure, replacement components must be sourced internationally, which will take extra time.
Council’s Community Assets & Facilities team is working towards reopening the web in time for the mid-year June/July holidays.
Fencing and signage will remain in place to cordon off the damaged equipment, while other sections of the playground, including the flying fox, timber play tower, and monorail, remain open for the public to enjoy.
Further updates will be provided as information becomes available.
