Operating hours over Christmas

From the Mayor, Councillors, staff and volunteers of Rockhampton Regional Council, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Enjoy our Rockhampton Region summer, stay safe and if you are travelling we ask that you take care on the roads to ensure you and your family arrive at your destination safely.

Please note that all Rockhampton Regional Council Customer Service Centres and offices (including the Pilbeam Theatre Box Office and Libraries) will be closed over the Christmas period from 3pm on Friday, 23 December 2016 and will open again for business in the New Year on Tuesday, 3 January 2017 at 8am.

Council units that will be closed during this period include:

  • Customer service and administration buildings
  • Community Programs
  • Walter Reid Cultural Centre
  • Showgrounds.

Some Council venues have different closure times during this Christmas Period. The closure information is listed below:

Rockhampton Art Gallery

  • Closed from 4pm 24 December 2016 and reopens on 26 December 2016 at 10am
  • Closed 1 January 2017 and reopens 2 January 2017 at 10am.

Pilbeam Theatre Box Office

  • The Pilbeam Theatre Box Office and Administration Office (including Rockhampton Showgrounds enquiries) will be closed from 24 December 2016 and will reopen on 3 January 2017.

Rockhampton Heritage Village

  • Closed public holidays
  • Open all other days.

City Child Care Centre

  • Closed from 26 December 2016 and reopening on 9 January 2017.

Rockhampton Regional Libraries

  • All libraries will be closed between 24 and 27 December 2016 inclusive
  • Northside library will be closed from 24 December 2016 and will reopen on 3 January 2017
  • Southside library will be open from 28 December 2016 to 30 December 2016; closed 31 December 2016 and reopen on 3 January 2017
  • Mount Morgan library will be open on 30 December 2016.

    Rockhampton Pound

  • Closed Christmas Day
  • Public holidays and weekends 7am - 10am
  • Weekdays  7am - 8.30am and 3pm - 4pm.

Parks and Gardens

  • Public gardens will remain open to the public as usual
  • Rockhampton Zoo is closed on Christmas Day.

Pools

Fitzroy River Water

  • The Fitzroy River Water Administration Centre and depots will close at 3pm on Friday, 23 December 2016 and will reopen at 8am on Tuesday, 3 January 2017
  • FRW Crews will however remain on call and provide 24/7 support throughout the closure period.

Waste Management

  • All facilities will be closed on Christmas Day 
  • Waste and Recycling Collection will operate as per normal.

Airport

  • The Airport will operate as per normal.

Across Council, emergency and on-call crews will be in place as per normal Departmental arrangements.
