Right to Information and Privacy

On 1 July 2009 the Right to Information Act 2009  (RTI Act) and the Information Privacy Act 2009  (IP Act), replaced the Freedom of Information Act 1992.

These laws:

  • make more information held by the Government available
  • provide equal access to it across all sectors of the community
  • provide appropriate protection for individuals' privacy.

Your Right to Information

Council is making it easier for you to access information. This includes information about our policies, financial reports, public registers and documents relating to our decisions.

Applying for Access to Information

Requests for access to documents under Right to Information (RTI) and Information Privacy (IP) legislation exclude documents that are already available via other means.

Rockhampton Regional Council Publication Scheme

Our publication scheme describes and categorises information routinely available from the Council. It has been developed to give the community greater access to information held by Council.

Applying for Complaint Documents

This information is intended to assist people who were involved in a complaint and are now applying to access documents about, or arising out of, that complaint.

Council’s disclosure log provides details of non-personal information released under the Act.

Administrative Access

Rockhampton Regional Council’s Administrative Access Scheme allows people to be given access to information through a streamlined process.
