Tenant Responsibilities

Know Your Lease, License or Permit Terms and Conditions

Your organisation's committee members must be familiar with the terms and conditions of the lease, licence or permit, especially the details of the term, permitted use and times of use.

To have a copy of your organisation's lease, licence or permit mailed to you, send a letter on your organisation's letterhead to:

Pay Your Bills

  • Leased Premises: the following is an example of the accounts and fees that may apply:
    • Rent Rates & Utility
    • Water Charges (if applicable)
    • Electricity
    • Building insurance (if you own the building)
    • Public liability insurance
  • Licensed or season licensed premises, including Permits: the following accounts and fees apply:
    • Licence/Permit fee
    • Electricity
    • Public liability insurance

Tell Rockhampton Regional Council about Changes

Your organisation must regularly contact Rockhampton Regional Council about:

  • Changes to committee members
  • Change to contact details
  • Proposed improvements to leased premises
  • Renewed Public Liability Insurance Certificates

To update your community organisation's contact details, you can download, and fill out a Lease/Licence Waiting List Application Form(PDF, 334KB) .

To send it to us, your can either:

  • Save the form on your computer and email to the Property & Insurance Section on enquiries@rrc.qld.gov.au
  • Fax it to 1300 22 55 79
  • Print and post it to:

You must also respond to Rockhampton Regional Council's requests for information. For organisations with a lease, these requests will usually come from the Sport & Recreation Section.

Be a Good Neighbour

Whether you have a lease, licence or permit, your organisation must manage and operate your premises so that disruption to your neighbours is minimal.

Maintaining Your Site

Leased Premises:

  • You are responsible for maintaining your leased premises. You must ask for Council's approval by contacting Council before making any improvements to the site, including erecting signage.
  • You are responsible for keeping the premises clean and tidy and repairing any damage that you cause

Licensed or Seasonal Licensed Premises, including Permits:

  • You are responsible for keeping the premises clean and tidy and repairing any damage that you cause.
  • In most circumstances you are not responsible for general maintenance but you must let Council know about any repair work that needs to be done.
  • You are not allowed to make any improvements to the premises without written consent first being obtained from Council.
