Outcomes Identified by Grant Recipient/s
The full extent of the project could not be realised due to the onset of COVID-19 and subsequent closure of the facilities and Queensland Government restrictions on gathering. However, this aside, the top three outcomes were:
-
An interpretive plan that will help to provide future direction for the Railway Museum;
-
A range of 'out of the box' ideas that will provide numerous, unique opportunities for the business community;
-
An enhanced visitor experience when implemented.
Reflections and Learnings
The biggest challenge was the impact of COVID-19 which meant that face-to-face meetings with volunteers and consultants were restricted, causing a delay in time frame - this was overcome through an approved extension to the project period. Communications were mainly done via phone and email. The number of volunteers participating was less than anticipated due to the lockdown.
