Invasive Animals
Invasive (feral) animals differ from domestic animals in that they have not simply escaped the confines of their owner's property, but are living as wild animals.
Invasive animals have significant impacts on Queensland primary industries, natural ecosystems, human and animal health. The true cost of invasive animals in Queensland to the Queensland economy is unknown and difficult to quantify. Feral pigs alone have been estimated to reduce grain productivity by $12 million a year. Wild dog cost $33 million a year in livestock losses, disease and control
Council’s Pest Management Officers are responsible for controlling invasive animals on public land. They can also provide advice to landowners on how to control invasive animals on private land.
