Trees and Streetscapes

Our urban trees and streetscapes are valuable community assets that deliver a range of social, environmental and economic benefits for our community.

Council is responsible for tree planting, streetscaping and maintenance within Council controlled public spaces including parks, open spaces, reserves and street trees on urban footpaths.

Through Council’s Urban Greening Policy and Tree Management Policy, Council is committed to recognise, manage, protect, enhance and monitor our growing urban forest.

Street trees

Significant tree register

Council’s Significant Tree Register aims to recognise, protect, and monitor significant trees within our Region. Find out how you can submit a Significant Tree Register nomination if you are aware of a tree that may be eligible.

Streetscapes

Council has undertaken a number of streetscaping projects to upgrade town centers in Rockhampton, Gracemere and Mount Morgan. As well as the CBD and town centres, Council maintains vegetated median strips and street reserves throughout our Region.
