Am I allowed to keep rats and mice?

 
If you keep rats or mice as a pet, at a laboratory for medical, research, scientific or teaching purposes or for the purpose of selling them, giving them away or using them as a food source for other animals you must keep the rats or mice in an enclosure from which they cannot escape.

You may receive a fine or face prosecution if you do not comply with this requirement.
