Riverside Boardwalk Refurbishment
Project Scope
Around 800 square metres of timber decking is being replaced with innovative new composite decking. The furniture on the boardwalk will also be getting refurbished with the existing tables, chairs, and handrails all getting fresh coats of paint.
Benefits
This project enhances livability and the economic benefits will be felt throughout the community.
The new decking product was chosen for its durability, ensuring the boardwalk can continue to be enjoyed by the community for many years to come. The composite decking is more durable than timber and requires less maintenance. It is also an environmentally friendly product made from over 80% reclaimed timber and recycled plastic.
With these upgrades, the structural integrity of the boardwalk is able to be maintained for the next 20 years.
Funding
The Queensland Government is contributing $1.6 million to this project through the Works for Queensland program.
