Rockhampton Region Planning Scheme 10 Year Review

Council has recently completed a review of its planning scheme. Under the Planning Act 2016 a review of the planning scheme is required every 10 years.

The Rockhampton Region Planning Scheme was made on 24 August 2015 and the review of the planning scheme commenced in June 2023.

A review offers a chance to assess the Planning Scheme at a specific point in time, ensuring that it remains aligned with current community expectations and adapts to changes in circumstances. This process helps to effectively manage land use and development within the Rockhampton Region.

Some of the benefits of the review include:

  • Ensuring planning requirements are as streamlined as possible;
  • Reducing the complexity of the planning scheme, and;
  • Identifying opportunities for economic growth, environmental protection or improving social outcomes.

The following table outlines the review process undertaken to date and amendment stages moving forward.
