Walking and cycling are great ways to help maintain and improve our health and wellbeing. From young kids to senior citizens, getting outdoors and active is key to enjoying a healthy lifestyle.
Whether by foot or on bike, the Rockhampton Region has an expansive network of pathways, walking and cycling trails to help get you from A to B or explore what the region has to offer.

Council is also proud to support the 10,000 steps program for the community and welcomes groups like the Heart Foundation.
10,000 Steps
Make every walk and ride count towards improving and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Our local university, CQUniversity Australia provides a free, interactive program called 10,000 Steps to help you challenge yourself, friends and workmates to move more every day! Heart Foundation Walking
Heart Foundation Walking is a fun, social and easy way to be active and best of all it's FREE! It is Australia’s largest network of community-based walking groups with over 19,000 active members. Groups are led by volunteer Walk Organisers and we have new groups starting every week.
Joining or starting a walking group in your area or workplace is a great way to get active and meet new people. Every walking group is different - varying in size, duration of walk, level of difficulty and meeting times and places.
